Ivorian Anticipation

PDF version: Anderson WEEKLY 150725

Dear Friends and Ministry Partners,

This week we share the testimony of a Free Will Baptist who has promoted the welfare of widows and orphans in Cote d’Ivoire since we came to know him in 2000. After every Community Health Evangelism (CHE) training, participants are requested to provide feedback. At what was the last training to date focused upon and subsidized for Free Will Baptist ministries in Cote d’Ivoire, he shared this response.

During this training, I learned that Community Health Evangelism (CHE) is truly an instrument that permits an ongoing development which lasts in a community because members of the community are its principal actors.

I relearned during that the variety of methods and techniques used as approaches in CHE can be precious tools of evangelism and to plant new churches that multiply.

I clearly understood that reports of activity are very important in order to measure results achieved during a CHE program, and beyond.  We could statistically measure all the diverse activities of our various church departments this way too.

I was surprised to find myself thinking that our Free Will Baptist churches could better facilitate church planting movements if we take the time to experiment and appropriate CHE and the multiple methods and techniques it offers to us.

I rejoice that I was able to participate in this 2nd training after last year’s TOT1 (Training of Trainers 1). What I’ve learned has enriched my life so I can do better in all my activities: community, professional, and spiritual.

I would love to see the leaders of our Quarterlies and our National Church be enriched by these trainings so we could experiment in the different regions where we are placed.

In my humble opinion, I think that the CHE program has not truly started, or taken off, among Free Will Baptist churches  . . .  I’d love with all my heart to see our churches put aside the blockages and embrace the CHE program because it works so well with the other communities . . . it could also work well with us if we did it whole heartedly.
